Here's where webmasters can
find details about Jim's...
Ringmaster

Preferred Penis Webring

The Preferred Penis Ring promotes
the Internet's preeminent penises!

...which has now become...

The Penis SiteRing

This change has taken place because WebRing.org was taken over by "Yahoo WebRing" -- and Yahoo has been completely incompetent from day one until today in its handling and administration of the WebRing legacy.

If you don't have time for my ranting and raving...

For example, today (December 15, 2000) I tried to modify my WebRing. It wouldn't let me! I finally found a help form and wrote:

OK, fine... I GIVE UP! I guess I just won't be able to change ANYTHING in my ring until you guys fix some bug behind the scenes.

I sign in under my Yahoo ID, which is phdtop. It accepts my password. I click on "My Rings -- Edit" (which has the following URL: <http://dir.webring.yahoo.com/mbr?p=mr>). Then I go to a page which tells me: "Below is a list of the Rings for which you are RingMaster. To manage the Ring, Click on the Ring title link." And logically enough, the only listing beneath that is my ring, which is listed as "Jim's Preferred Penis R...". (Why it says "R..." instead of "Ring" I don't know; it's the same number of characters, eh? But that's beside the point.)

INTERESTING POINT: Below that is a list of "My Ring(s)". My ring is NOT listed there. Should it be? Is there some sort of internal contradiction in your system that's causing me all this hassle??

Anyway.... I click on the link to my ring's hub site, which takes me to this URL: <http://nav.webring.yahoo.com/hub?ring=preferredpenis>. That works fine, but here's the problem: THERE IS NO WAY TO MANAGE MY RING FROM THIS PAGE, AND THERE FRIGGING WELL OUGHT TO BE!!! In particular, there is NO section on the left hand side of this page which permits Ring Management (contrary to the statement in your Help section, that "The links for Ring management are on the left side of the page."). Yet when I click on one of the links that DOES exist there, I am taken to MY VERY OWN Yahoo profile page -- so your system clearly DOES recognize me as the person who is the owner of that ring.

So what's up? What on earth am I doing wrong?? I've spent almost AN HOUR on this now, trying everything I can think of, and NOTHING WORKS. I am quite experienced with computers and have no trouble setting up things that are a lot more complicated than what OUGHT to be a simple experience, namely a webring. So is it possible that I'm doing nothing wrong and that something is wrong with your system??? Is there any chance that you can fix this before Monday (right now it's Friday night)? Or before Christmas? Before 2001? Before 2040??
