You may have heard about the
New Orleans Mardi Gras tradition of beads. People
carry around festive strings of party beads and, when they
meet someone they like, they give them some.
It wasn't long before women
learned that they could get showered with beads if they'd
show off their tits. Often the beads were thrown down to
them from balconies in the famous French Quarter.
Not long after that, gay men
(and a few straight women) started rewarding men who
responded to their requests to "Show us your dick!" And the
rest, as they say, is history.
We're happy to report that
this wonderful tradition has now spread to the west coast.
We attended West Hollywood's street party for Mardi Gras,
held last February in a long alley just off Santa Monica
Boulevard. Balconies and fire escapes were filled with party
dudes, and the alley itself was jammed. It didn't take long
before a fellow with lots of beads appeared overhead. Soon
he was joined by his friends -- all with flashlights to get
a better look.
Results were immediate.
"Show us your dick!", they shouted, and every few seconds
someone did.
Some guys needed a little encouragement from their
friends.
Others
were well prepared, wearing see-through chain mesh or other
exhibitionistic item.
