Jim's Very Unofficial IMEN Winter Gathering Page

It's over! It was faaaabulous! It was the 1997 Winter Gathering for IMEN--International Men Enjoying Naturism, held at Kalani Honua on the Big Island of Hawaii.

For 7 days ending on Easter Sunday, 30 April, about 30 men shucked their clothes, their "attitude," and their preconceptions to enjoy Hawaiian weather, volcanic steam vents, nude beaches, and the active, bubbling volcanic craters of the Big Island.

Here we present some photos of the first half of the week. Thanks to Longs Drugs, which printed the photos promptly after WalMart refused to do so because of the subject matter. [The manager at WalMart claimed that it was a district-wide WalMart policy not to develop and print nude photos (despite the fact that WalMart in San Diego prints them without any hassles).] Thanks to K-Mart, which printed the photos from the second half of the week. And thanks to Kalani Honua, which allowed us to use their computer system to digitize the results. Finally, thanks to the models who granted permission for their photos to be posted here without disguising their faces.

Hula Lessons!

Our teachers, Del and Richard. Among the many things we learned: traditional Hawaiian hula has always emphasized male as well as female dancers. One of the hulas we learned specifically celebrates male genitals -- not one you're likely to see performed at the Mormon-run Hawaiian cultural center, eh?

Here's Del, showing how important hip action is in most standard hula patterns.
