Dancer at La Cage Aux Follies

o your name is Chuck. You just told me that you've been dancing here for 11 months. How did you find out about La Cage?

Last year I saw an ad about how on Wednesday nights college students get in free, and I thought it was a normal dance bar. So I walked in and, like, I was shocked! They offered me a job that night, but I turned it down because at that time dancers could be touched and stroked (by the customers), and I couldn't do that. But 11 months ago I moved to Baltimore (for college) and I needed the job and the money, and they'd changed the rules so there was no touching. So I decided to come back.

ou told me a moment before the interview that you don't get sexually turned on by dancing.

Most of the time. If there's an attractive person in the bar I'm gonna get turned on.

So what attractive to you?

Preferably someone close to my age, he's got like an energy to him, you know? At the same time he'd have to be kind of physically attractive (which means?)... it varies. Someone my own height, nice body, cute face, the eyes and the face are the first things that draw me in.

ou said you dance for the money, basically, but you also do it for the dancing.

I really enjoy dancing, whether it's nude or not.

Except here, have you ever seen anyone else dance naked?

Yeah, the Atlantis in Baltimore (where they strip to a g-string). I also danced the contest over at Wet one time.

ow much do they pay you here?

A set amount each night, plus whatever tips we get.

The tips vary from what to what?

Normal, good nights I've made like $40, really good nights I made $200.

hat's the key to being at good dancer at La Cage?

For me it's different because a lot of the dancers here get on the bar and just get hard, they don't really do that much (movement). For me, I like to move very sensually, move my hips a lot, and move and touch my upper body and be sensual. The occasional hard-on helps because that's what people like to see (laughs), for me it's just motion.

hat's the scariest thing that ever between you and a customer?

There's one customer who, when I was up on the bar he was talking really dirty to me, and I said OK that's fine, but when I got off my shift he grabbed my arm and pulled me toward him. For a moment I was really scared, but then I just told him what the fuck do you think you're doing, and he was like shocked, and he backed off, and he left me alone. I'm usually not an aggressive person at all.

What's the sweetest thing that ever happened?

I had a boyfriend I met here. He brought a female friend in with him, he'd never been to a strip bar before, and he was letting her do all the stuff with the boys and all (tipping, etc.) while he was off in a corner. But a college friend of mine used to work under him and happened to be there that night, so he introduced us and we hit it off and we went on a date the next day. I never expected to meet a boyfriend in here!

Are you still together?

No, we broke up. My boyfriend was 25, I'm 20, for a 25-year-old he was too settled, he didn't like to go out or do anything. I still go out all the time, it just didn't work out.

So you're working in a bar and you're not yet 21?

You have to be 18 to dance, but 21 to drink. (Indeed, I noticed that a few minutes before he had ordered a cherry coke from the bartender.)

ou said that you love dancing, and so you also like naked dancing. What do you like about it?

(Laughs) I guess like (laughs again) I'm a little of an exhibitionist, I guess I never knew until I like tried it out. It's kind of fun. When people tell me I'm attractive it feels great. Normally I'm very modest, but it feels great.

And you like the money of course, too.

Of course! It's the best paying job I've ever had.

Have you been to college?

I've done a year and a half. I'll be moving to California soon to finish it off.
