Here is the announcement of the 1999 Peel-Off in Northern California, as it appeared on a flyer distributed to square dance fans. Please note that all the details are the responsibility of the organizer, not of Jim or of Pen is Central.

> Location: Rancho Cicada Resort, Plymouth, California

> DATES: Friday August 28th thru Sunday August 30th, 1998

Featuring

FRANK LESCRINIER of Rancho Cucamonga, CA

and

HARLAN KERR of San Francisco, CA

calling Mainstream through C-2

Join fellow gay square dancers at an idyllic clothing-optional men's retreat in California's Gold Country. Frank Lescrinier and Harlan Kerr will call tips from Mainstream through C-2 from Friday afternoon, August 28 through Sunday afternoon, August 30, 1998. The dance program will be adjusted based on participants reserving space. Mainstream and C-2 dancers may be notified if less than a square of people sign up at these levels.

This special secluded weekend at Rancho Cicada Retreat has SPACE LIMITATIONS, so please make your reservations early. Total cost for the weekend is $165 and includes dinner on Friday, 3 meals on Saturday, and 2 meals on Sunday. Refreshments will be available 24 hours a day throughout the weekend.

The accommodations are comfortable, but rustic: large double tents on platforms, complete with mattresses. There are communal bathrooms with showers, and 2 hot tubs on the premises. There are 2 cabins available with private bath at an additional charge. Let me know immediately if you are interested in these as they go fast. If you would like to bunk with a friend, indicate his name below, although there is no guarantee.

  • Tents will be assigned on a first-reserved, first-assigned basis. Individual participants will be assigned in pairs in double tents.
  • Participants will need a sleeping bag (or bedding), a pillow, towels for showering and swimming. In August, the days are usually hot, but nights could cool a bit, so a light jacket or sweatshirt is wise. You'll also need a flashlight. Sleeping bag rental is available for $5 (quantity limited). Full details of what to bring, plus directions to Rancho Cicada will be provided about 30 days prior to event.
  • For planning purposes, you should know that Rancho Cicada is about a 3-hour drive from San Francisco, about a 90 minute drive from Sacramento, about 5 miles from the town of Plymouth. We will have access to the grounds on Friday, August 28 at 2 pm through Sunday at 5 pm. Additional days are available with meals for an additional fee, and many people will be extending their trip to take advantage of this special space.

Check out the interview with one of the fellows who started it all -- Richard -- who's interviewed on Jim's Men Dancing Naked page! There's also a report from a square dancer -- Art -- who danced naked for the first time at the Peel-Off in Palm Springs (accessible from the same page).
