Gay Pride Nudity Apparently Legal Again

We were the first to post a news story about the arrests... and now we're almost the first to post the news of freedom.
The 7 men arrested for nudity during the 2002 Toronto Gay Pride march have been officially informed that the provincial government in Ontario won't file charges against them... just as had been predicted by the amazingly insightful pundits at the TNT!MEN website!
These charges were deemed so trivial by the provincial authorities that they're not even going to go to the trouble of actually charging the marchers with any crime.
The legal status of nudity in Pride marches will remain a bit foggy, however. By refusing to file charges, there is no judicial precedent established and no guarantee that charges won't be filed against marchers in future parades. In short, the authorities are keeping their options open.
Nevertheless this is great news not only for the 7 men directly involved, but also for everyone who believes that there is nothing wrong with the naked body, especially in an appropriate free-speech context like a Pride parade. It also means that there is no longer a threat of having news photographs of the marchers used in a court proceeding. Accordingly, soon we'll get our own photos of the 2002 parade out of storage and get them posted here. Bookmark that page now for future reference!
