CMEN Closes Gay Naturist Gathering Season
Reported in Malibu by JIM W. THE 2001 GAY NUDE SEASON came to a close on Sunday, 23 September, as the CMEN Gathering ended in Malibu, California. Record-setting attendance was tinged with sadness as about 60 of the campers failed to arrive, mostly due to travel problems pertaining to the 11 September incidents. Nevertheless, over 300 guys did show up, get naked, grieve, dance, and enjoy a great time!	Hearts were heavy as Rich from Florida brought the sad news that a GNI member who worked at the World Trade Center was probably among the casualties. Confirmation was lacking, but this individual has been missing since the collapse. Is there a gay naked angle to the attacks? Of course there is -- even beyond the likely casualty. Does the Taliban like the idea of nudism? Homosexuality? Gay naturism? Not bloody likely! America, for all its faults and foibles, is a remarkably creative country, and gay naturism is part of that creativity. Religious conservatism of every stripe is threatened by it -- and don't you ever forget it.
