Reported in Toronto by JIM W. HISTORY WAS MADE Sunday, June 24, 2001, as Toronto saw the birth of a new freedom: the freedom to be naked in, around, during, and after a Gay Pride parade. TNT!MEN -- Totally Nude Toronto Men Enjoying Nudity -- marched naked, again, as it had for the previous five years. But this time it was different. This time it was permanent. This time it was for real!	Not only was there no harrassment or police action during the march... the karma was so good afterwards that no one put their clothes back on! Together, the dozen nude (and a couple of nearly-nude) men walked from the end of the parade back to the TNT!MEN booth just as nude as they had been in the parade. Naked from head to foot. (Well, from head to ankle, anyway; shoes were worn.) Nude. Starkers. The full monty. Tits to the wind, Dicks a-swingin. Smiles from ear to ear!	Thanks to wonderful badpuppy.com people, we have ultra-low-cost web space permitting us to serve the pen is-consuming public for free. Such a great company!!! 	And it all felt so... natural. So in-fucking-credibly normal! No one gawked. All the straight women wanted to be photographed with us Their boyfriends didn't object. Even a lot of gay guys handed their cameras to their husbands and got a pic with us. We chatted. We returned the cheers of the onlookers -- who were not as numerous as they had been along the route but just as interested and film-filled as ever. We walked past police, who were completely civil. We walked past parade security volunteers, all of whom seemed to be grinning, as we were, from ear to ear, and who were incredibly supportive.
For this reporter, the most emotionally moving moment happened when an older gentleman, handicapped and in a motorized wheelchair, zipped himself around a barrier, drove silently up to us, got a look on his face somewhere between amazement, profound respect, and political fervor, put a whistle between his lips (with some difficulty), and blew and blew and blew as if his life depended on it! I guessed he was saying that we, like he, were proud and secure in who we were and neither he nor we were, goddam it, going to let anyone else's insecurity get in the way.
